Following an introduction to willow and material preparation, this willow course will teach you how to handle and work with willow to create willow structures for the garden.These could include, plant supports, willow wigwams and woven panels or hurdles.  We will also cover caring for your willow in order to prolong the life of your willow garden structure.

Following an introduction to willow and material preparation, this willow course will teach you how to handle willow to create willow sculptures, including how to choose the correct materials and work with tools. During the day you will create a small animal willow sculpture such as a duck or hen, which can be taken away with you to adorn your home or garden.

For this basket making course you will need to have already made at least one willow basket. We will be discussing materials as we go so will look at how to select the correct materials, material preparation and tool-care. We will be covering different weaves on round or oval baskets and square work. At the end of the day you will have a beautiful willow basket to take away.

This basket making course will teach you basic basketry techniques using some of the 150 varieties of willow which we grow at Redstone Willows. Course objectives are to learn the basic techniques of basket making enabling you to make a small shopper or fruit / bread basket. You will also learn how to select and grade willow for your basket making.
